Jan Richardson Baughman

Janet Richardson-Baughman earned both a BFA & an MFA in ceramics & with this she taught college & began her studio career. She was on the board of directors for two years of the National Council for Education in the Ceramic Arts (NCECA).
Janet then expanded her media to include painting, mixed media, pastels & collage. The natural beauty that abounds where she lives in northern Michigan inspires her artwork. By studying the way the landscapes flow together, Baughman creates small vignettes of tranquility.
Jan feels a strong influence from the seasons & direct interaction with nature. She says of her art, it is like a dance or conversation in her head, which she expresses through her abstracts, rich in texture & color.
